In 2024, DSW phased out its country office in Kenya through a strategic transition, leading to the establishment of Youth for a Sustainable World (YSW), an independent, locally led organization.

With its headquarters in Nairobi, YSW is a Kenyan registered national Public Benefits Organisation with a rich history of empowering communities through adolescent and youth-focused programmes since the year 2000. The organisation has two field offices in Kitale and Mombasa, and satellite offices in Kwale, Nakuru and Kisumu, supporting programmes in 15 counties.

YSW is managed by a Senior Management Team led by Evelyn Samba as the Executive Director.  The organisation is governed by a Board of Directors that plays a crucial role in shaping its direction and ensuring accountability. Together the SMT and the Board fosters a culture of innovation, integrity, and impact, strengthening our ability to serve communities effectively.

YSW is on a mission ‘to empower young people, create a supportive environment, advance gender equality, and foster access to SRHR services’ as informed by its vision for ‘a world where all young people-especially girls and young women-are healthy and empowered to drive sustainable change’.

The organisations interventions are tailored under the broad themes of:

• Gender equality
• Economic empowerment
• Nurturing youth-led organization
• Advocacy
