Supported by you
We regularly publish success stories of our work that have been made possible by your donations. Here are two examples.
Catherine from Kenya
The Covid-19 pandemic hit young people in Africa particularly hard. Essential health services were unavailable, modern contraceptives were scarce and young people were denied their basic right to self-determinded family planning. This was the case for 17-year-old Catherine – one of many girls in Kenya who became pregnant during the pandemic and risked a future of poverty and dependency. We published her story, representative of thousands of other affected girls and young women in East Africa, and raised vital financial support.
Halima from Ethiopia
14-year-old Halima from Bedele in Ethiopia was abducted by three young men on her way to school and forcibly married to a stranger. She was locked up for a year, abused and had to endure his assaults. Eventually she managed to escape. Today, Halima is a 10th grade student and a youth counselor at DSW. Thanks to her family and the members of her youth club, the young woman is optimistic about the future. She is happy that she can have a positive impact on her community through her work as a youth counselor. As Halima also underwent female genital mutilation as a child, she is now particularly committed to the rights of girls: “I use my voice to campaign against female genital mutilation and forced marriage. They violate our rights. Every girl should be able to decide for herself about her own body.”
What impact does your donation have?
Your donation works. We guarantee this because it is the basis of our work. Together with you, our donors, we support young people according to the principle of “helping people to help themselves”. A donation to Deutsche Stiftung Weltbevölkerung (DSW) has many positive effects. It enables us to implement programmes to promote sexual and reproductive health and to strengthen the rights of young people. Your donation gives young people access to vital health services, education and modern contraceptives. Your donation will help us to raise awareness, promote education and strengthen health services, especially in regions where the need is greatest. It enables us to develop innovative programmes that empower young people in East Africa to make informed decisions about their health and future.
Through your support, you can make a real difference in the lives of young people and help shape a world where everyone has the opportunity to reach their full potential. Your donation is an important step towards a fairer, healthier future for all.

Yes, we welcome regular donations! Regular support gives us more planning security as it allows us to plan for the long term and support projects on an ongoing basis.
Donations are the foundation of our work and we are grateful for any amount. A particular advantage of regular donations is that they give us more planning certainty with less administration, which of course benefits the projects.
You can make an unrestricted donation or choose which of our four areas you would like to support (political dialogue, youth empowerment, education and contraception, gender equality). If you have a particular project that you are passionate about, you can also choose to donate to that project.
In addition to financial support, you can also make a valuable contribution by actively participating in events or spreading our messages on social media. Every form of support is welcome and helps to promote our work. Take a look at our other donation options to find the right type of donation for you.
