DSW Tanzania is a Country Office of the global development organisation Deutsche Stiftung Weltbevölkerung (DSW). DSW Tanzania’s Head Office is in the Arusha Region with liaison offices in Dar es Salaam, Dodoma and Mbeya. DSW Tanzania’s  vision is for a healthy and sustainable Tanzania in which all young people can realise their full potential. To unleash this potential, DSW empowers young people, creates an enabling environment and fosters inclusive and meaningful participation.

DSW Tanzania currently operates in the regions of Arusha, Dar es Salaam, Dodoma, Iringa, Kilimanjaro, Mbeya, Mwanza and Songwe. We collaborate with communities, government institutions, civil society and youth to improve health and livelihoods. We deliver interventions for youth in schools, in the informal sector and higher learning institutions through various projects.

DSW Tanzania supports youth in schools, higher learning institutions, and the informal sector by equipping them with the knowledge and skills need. Our programmes help young people make informed choices, build confidence, and create pathways to sustainable livelihoods. Our interventions align with global and national policy framework and priorities under the following thematic areas

• Reproductive Health (RH) education and access
• Gender based violence
• Life skills development for personal growth and resilience
• Entrepreneurship and economic empowerment
• Leadership
• Mental health awareness and psychosocial support
• Capacity strengthening of CSOs and youth focal points

We drive impact by creating and strengthening youth-friendly structures and safe spaces, including Youth Clubs in schools and communities, Youth Empowerment Centres (YECs), and Safe Spaces for Girls. These platforms provide young people with opportunities to learn, connect, and access essential services such as mentorship, skills training, GBV prevention support, youth friendly health services and referral pathways.

DSW Tanzania builds the capacity of local civil society organisations to implement youth-focused programmes that align with national frameworks, guidelines, and priorities. This includes training on RH, GBV response, advocacy, monitoring entrepreneurship, and institutional development.

We work closely with Line Ministries in health, education, youth, and community development, strategic NGOs at local and international levels. These partnerships ensure coordinated action and sustainable programming that benefits young people.

DSW Tanzania prioritises continuous learning and innovation. We regularly conduct reviews, and engage with stakeholders to ensure our approaches remain responsive and impactful.
